What an £89 service actually gets you.

Worth a look

Signs your boiler needs attention.

None of these mean disaster on their own. All of them are cheaper to deal with now than in January.

Banging, kettling or gurgling

Usually sludge or scale in the heat exchanger. Left alone it shortens the boiler's life considerably.

Radiators cold at the bottom

Sludge sitting in the system. A filter clean or flush sorts it before pumps start failing.

Pressure keeps dropping

Topping up more than once or twice a year points to a leak or a failed expansion vessel.

Flame is yellow, not blue

A yellow or orange flame can mean incomplete combustion. Stop using it and ring us.

Hot water runs cold

Often a diverter valve on its way out — a straightforward fix if caught early.

No service in over a year

Most manufacturer warranties become void without an annual service on record.

Any of these sound familiar? Ring 0121 517 0286 and we'll tell you what it's likely to be.

Common questions

Straight answers on servicing.

How much is an annual service?

£89 + VAT (£106.80 including VAT) for most domestic gas boilers. Bundle it with a landlord gas safety certificate and the pair is £100 + VAT (£120), which saves £59 against booking them separately.

What does the callout fee cover?

£89 + VAT covers the visit and the first hour of labour. In that hour we diagnose the fault and fix it wherever it's possible to do so without fitting parts. If it turns out to need parts, more time, or a return visit, we quote you for that during the hour — so you decide before anything else is spent. Small consumables like washers and seals we generally don't charge for.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes — 30 days on the repair itself, which is what's fair on a repair as opposed to a new installation. Any parts we fit carry the manufacturer's own warranty for a genuine fault, usually 12 months.

How much is a landlord gas safety certificate?

£70 + VAT (£84) for one domestic appliance, and £15 + VAT (£18) for each additional appliance. Bundled with a full service it's £100 + VAT (£120). The certificate is emailed the same day.

Do you offer an out-of-hours service?

Not at the moment, though we're looking at introducing one. Calls are answered Monday to Friday 8am–6pm and weekends 9am–4pm, and we keep slots back each day for breakdowns.

Will you remind me when my service is due?

Yes. We send a reminder by email or text when your service or certificate is coming up, so the warranty doesn't lapse because it slipped your mind.

My boiler is old. Is it worth repairing?

If parts are available and the boiler is under about 12 years old, usually yes. Older than that and we'll be straight with you about whether a replacement makes more sense — even though a repair is the easier sale for us.

Do you work on all brands?

Yes — Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann, Alpha, Ariston, Glow-worm, Potterton and the rest. Manufacturer-trained where warranties require it.
