What this site stores on your device, what it loads from other companies, and how to turn any of it off. It is a short list, because we do not track you.
We set no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and nothing that follows you to other websites. The only thing we store on your device is your own progress through a quote tool, so you do not lose your answers. That stays on your device.
If that changes — and adding analytics is a reasonable thing for us to want to do — you will get a consent banner before anything is set, and this page will be updated first.
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Related technologies do much the same job under different names: local storage and session storage hold data in your browser, and tracking pixels are tiny images used to record that a page was opened. UK law treats them all the same way, so this policy covers all of them and we use the word "cookie" loosely to mean any of them.
The law that governs them is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. It says that anything not strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for needs your consent before it is set — not after.
Everything in this table is set by us and is strictly necessary, which means it does not require consent. None of it is used to build a profile of you, and none of it is shared.

You can see a full price without giving us a single contact detail, and nothing you type into a quote tool reaches us until you press submit. If you abandon a quote halfway, we do not have it.
The site loads fonts and icons from two external services. They do not set cookies on our behalf, but because your browser fetches a file from them, they receive your IP address and basic browser information as part of that request. We are naming them because you are entitled to know.

Links out to Instagram, Facebook and Checkatrade are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those companies while you are on our site, and they learn nothing about your visit unless you click through.
You will not see a cookie banner on this site, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight. Consent is only required for cookies that are not strictly necessary, and at present we do not set any. Showing a banner asking permission for something we are not doing would be theatre.
The moment that stops being true, a banner appears. If we add website analytics, a chat widget, a Facebook or Google advertising pixel, or an embedded video player, each of those requires your consent first, and the law requires that rejecting be as easy as accepting. Nothing non-essential will load until you have chosen.
You are in charge of what your browser keeps, regardless of what any website asks for.

We review this page whenever we change anything about how the site is built, and at least once a year. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
