What we do

Cooling and heating that actually fits your space.

Single-room splits through to whole-house multi-splits and small commercial ducted systems. F-gas certified, properly commissioned, tidy pipework.

Single-room splits

Wall-mounted units for a bedroom, home office or conservatory — usually a single day on site.

Whole-home multi-splits

One outdoor unit feeding several rooms — clean pipework runs and unobtrusive indoor units.

Ducted & commercial

Offices, salons, small hospitality — VRV/VRF systems designed for real workday load.

Heating in winter, too

Modern inverter-driven units heat as efficiently as they cool — a useful backup or top-up.

Servicing & F-gas checks

Annual maintenance and mandatory F-gas inspections for business installs.

Filter & hygiene

Deep cleans and antibacterial filter services — especially useful in kitchens and treatment rooms.

The science bit

How air conditioning actually works.

It doesn't make cold air. It moves heat from one place to another, using a refrigerant that changes between liquid and gas as it goes round a sealed loop.

Step 01

Heat is absorbed

Warm room air is drawn across a cold coil in the indoor unit. Cold liquid refrigerant inside the coil soaks up that heat and boils into a gas.

Step 02

The gas is compressed

The compressor in the outdoor unit squeezes that gas. Squeezing it raises its pressure and pushes its temperature well above the outside air.

Step 03

Heat is dumped outside

Because the gas is now hotter than the air outdoors, heat flows out through the outdoor coil and the fan blows it away. The gas condenses back to liquid.

Step 04

Pressure is released

An expansion valve drops the pressure, which drops the temperature sharply. The refrigerant returns to the indoor unit cold, ready to start again.

The loop runs continuously, so the room cools gradually rather than in blasts — and the refrigerant is never used up, only moved around.

Summer

Cooling mode

Heat is taken out of the room and released outdoors. As the air passes over the cold coil it also loses moisture, which is why the room feels less humid as well as cooler. That water drains away through a small condensate pipe.

Winter

Heating mode

A reversing valve runs the same loop backwards. The outdoor unit becomes the cold end and pulls heat out of the outside air — there's usable heat in air well below freezing — and the indoor unit releases it into the room.

3–5×Units of heat moved for every unit of electricity used. Because it moves heat rather than creating it, it beats any electric heater on running cost.
InverterModern compressors vary their speed instead of switching on and off, holding a steady temperature and using far less power once the room is settled.
19–24 dBTypical indoor noise on low fan — quieter than a library, and the noisy part of the system sits outside the building.
Common questions

Straight answers on air conditioning.

Do I need planning permission?

For most homes, no — air-con units are permitted development if they meet size and position rules. We check for you at survey and flag anything that needs a planning application.

How noisy are the units?

Modern indoor units run at about 20 dB (a whisper) on low. Outdoor units are 45–55 dB from a metre — quieter than a normal conversation. We site them sensibly to keep neighbours happy.

Can one system heat and cool multiple rooms?

Yes — a multi-split system runs one outdoor unit feeding 2–5 indoor units, each with its own remote. Different rooms can be at different temperatures.

How much does it cost?

Single-room splits start at £1,350 fully installed for a small bedroom, with most landing between £1,500 and £3,500 depending on the room size, the unit and how much pipework is involved. Multi-splits and ducted systems are priced per home. We'll always see the property first before quoting.

Do they need servicing?

Yes — a quick annual service keeps filters clean and the refrigerant sound. Commercial installs also need a mandatory F-gas inspection depending on system size.

Can I run it from solar panels?

Absolutely — air-con is one of the best loads to pair with solar PV, since you're usually cooling when the sun is out. We can wire in an EV-charger-style priority if you want.

Ready for a cooler, calmer home?

Book a free site visit. We'll size the system to your rooms, quote it fairly, and — if air-con isn't the right answer — we'll tell you.
